How can I get the best of my Blu Ray player?

I have a ps3 and I've been buying blu ray movies lately and I have an HDTV and a HDMI cable, but everytime I see a blu ray movie I can't tell the difference, like when I go to best buy or so, there blu ray movies they have on Display show so vivid and kinda stick out allot just like you would imagen if you were to see it in real life, I'm asking because I would love to see Sucker Punch like this please help thanks!
